Automated Hospital Bed

In rural areas of Sri Lanka hospitals are equipped with Hospital beds which are operated manually. In some facilities, the cost of an automated hospital bed is deemed too high and normal beds are used instead. In order to provide a cost effective solution and assist the hospital staff and patients, ACCIMT has proposed the design of automating hospital beds at a low cost.

The idea of this project is to automate manually operated hospital beds bed at an affordable cost. With the implementation of this project it would be possible to reduce the strain placed on the hospital staff to take care of a patient.

The witnessing of a paralyzed patient suffering in one of the rural villages due to the lack of such facility motivated the staff to undertake this project. In that particular incident 4-5 nurses were required to tend to the patient at a time. The availability of the proposed design at that time would have made tending to the patient less tedious.
